@freespiritequestrian: Replying to @Mindy you have to follow your intuition and gut instincts and do what’s best for everyone in the end. #realtalk #horses
tbh I feel like it's often used in the wrong context

They act like you’re sending him to a slaughter house or something 🤦🏻♀️🙄. You will find him a wonderful home if you decide this is the right step for you guys!

Yep. I had a mustang what broke my confidence every time I got on her. I worked with a trainer and got to a better point, but then I got pregnant and I didn’t think I could continue her training safely. So I sold her, I didn’t want to but I just wasn’t her forever home and that’s okay!!

He’s a cool horse. He might make a great horse for you someday, or he might make someone else a great horse instead. There’s not reason to force an awkward fit if you’re not interested anymore

Honestly I agree. I have a young horse who has been through a LOT of homes. He just needed the right person and now he has a forever home with me. He was deemed “Dangerous”. I haven’t had issues tho.

Life is too short to keep horses you don’t click with. If my blue roan and I don’t click, she’s gonna find a new zip code. Don’t care who it upsets.

Thank you so much for this post. We got the most beautiful Appaloosa and realized he was very misrepresented. We are looking at selling him and this made me feel so much better about our decision.

I’ve been a breeder/exhibitor for 35 yrs you need to trust your intuition and know what works and doesn’t , it’s the hard decisions that make you better for you and the animal. I fully support you !

I sold my mare because I was a green rider and she was too much energy and go for me. She honed my groundwork skills, omg I love her for that! But after that point we just... Weren't a good match

My junior hunter was such a poor match. I quit riding for a bit after having him because it shook my joy of riding so much. He was much better off with a rider who appreciated all his good qualities

I used to have horses didn't want to give them up and they got the best care but I could tell they weren't growing where they could and I had college so made the tough decision to find them new homes.

This part of “the industry” is the part that has been kind of demonized over the years. I think it has something to do with the vast numbers of horses that go to the bad place or wind up in terrible

1/2 Horses very much have people preferences too. Sometimes it just doesn't click. That's OK. I used to work at a friesian farm. 1 mare was extremely picky abt who "her" ppl were. I wasnt 1 of them.

There is nothing wrong with moving a horse along that you don't get along. You aren't giving up as long as you move them into the home that they need.
