@noguxx: Do you know what happened on the 1st of September 1975, in Bougainville? As we prepare to commemorate the Bougainville Patriotism Day, let us reflect on the events that transpired 49 years ago and the significance it holds in our history. It was an emotional and transformative experience, as recalled by Marilyn Havini in this short video, who was there with her husband, the late Moses Havini, at the Wakunai government station on that day. On the 1st of September 1975, a moment of profound pride and unity unfolded across Bougainville. For the first time in our history, the Bougainville Flag was raised. From Buka to Tinputz, Wakunai to Arawa and Buin, our patriotic leaders stood shoulder to shoulder with thousands of Bougainvilleans, determined to pave a new path for Bougainville. That day marked our first Unilateral Declaration of Independence – a bold and heartfelt cry for self-determination and sovereignty. Fr John Momis (at the time) raised the flag in Buin, Dr Alexis Sarei raised the flag in Arawa, Moses Havini raised the flag in Wakunai, Leo Hannett raised the flag in Tinputz and Thomas Anis raised the flag in Buka. Across Bougainivlle, our flag and now symbol of identity, was hoisted in five different locations – yet it carried the same spirit of unity and resilience. #pngfacts🇵🇬 #pngtiktok🇵🇬 #BougainvilleIndependencePatriotismDay #BougainvilleHistory #BougainvillePride #bougainvilleindependence

Bougainville has the political will and social cohesion to pursue independence, but its economic fragility and institutional underdevelopment pose serious hurdles.

Who are we to hold back Bougainville from attaining its independence, if their leaders n people in all sectors of business are ready, then they must be ready regardless of revenue collection!

She advocates for what she designed on paper not necessarily a future. Bougainville has never been a separate territory, the tension back home

We are not part of PNG geographically 👌
We are part of the Solomon Group of Islands. Our customs and traditions not the same as mainland PNG as well🙏💪

BOUGAINVILLE WAS PART OF SOLOMON ISLANDS DURING THE BRITISH PROTECTORATE, IT WAS EXCHANGED FOR WESTERN SAMOA, BETWEEN BRITAIN & GERMANY. IT WAS NEVER PART OF GERMAN NEW GUINEA FROM THE BEGINNING.
