Throckmorton acted as a go between for Mary and Philip II, but this time her cousin the French Duke of Guise would invade England and depose Elizabeth. Walsingham's spy network uncovered incriminating papers that detailed Throckmorton and other catholic conspirators, and the plot was foiled.
