try mixing them. I have a lot of wood in my house and mine is a mixture of mahogany and a cherry. mix the brown over one with the last one and see if it cuts the yellow

I wouldn’t do a gel-stain over existing poly — why not just use a tinted poly (ie - “stain+poly”) product — I think you’d get a more natural result.
