@kimberly.dowdell: Yesterday, Jack’s friends from school called and asked if they could take him to a church youth dance. Of course, I said YES! His friends will probably never know just how much that small invitation meant—not only to Jack, but to us as his parents. Jack may have Down syndrome, but he craves friendship and being included just like everyone else. Watching him have these friendships, seeing the pure joy on his face, and knowing he’s surrounded by kids who embrace him and treat him like one of their own… it completely made his day. Honestly, it made ours too. So here’s your reminder: make the invitation. Put forth the effort.
