@travelingboyfriends: As a gay couple, we had concerns about visiting Egypt. Homosexuality isn’t explicitly illegal, but LGBTQ+ rights are not protected. We did a lot of research before our trip and took precautions—like avoiding PDA and booking a room with twin beds. That said, our personal experience was positive. We had no issues navigating Egypt as foreigners, and locals were generally warm and welcoming. Our biggest concern were the scams bc they are everywhere! When we landed and shortly after immigration, Omie was taken off to the side and asked questions about his stay. The reason? The security guard was working with a tour agency who tried getting Omie to book a tour lol, you can’t make it up! Egypt, especially Cairo, is a place where you need to stay alert, negotiate everything upfront, and expect some level of hassle. We won’t lie, it was a lot. Of course, gay travelers should still exercise caution—especially online, as authorities have used dating apps to target individuals. But despite these concerns, seeing the Great Pyramids was an unforgettable experience, and we’re glad we went. If you’re thinking about visiting but feeling unsure, DM us with any questions—we’re happy to help! ❤️🐫 #fyp #pyramidsofgiza #sevenwonders #gaytravelcouple #lgbtcouple #egypt

Went w/my husband. Loved it but was exhausted by the constant barrage, chaos, & “hassle.” Also taken aback by extremes of affluence & abject poverty. Felt safe but guide did reroute tour for “unrest”

Ironically: In Arab countries such as Egypt, males also hold hands for friendship and respect

I’m trans and going to Egypt has always been a dream of mine, I’m even learning Egyptian Arabic! But fear I never can as a trans person. Is there any tips you could give or words of advice?

Voy a Egipto solo. Entiendo que incluso utilizar tinder para tomar algo con alguien en la calle puede ser peligroso verdad? Gracias.

I’m not getting twin beds and avoiding PDA on my vacation. That’s absurd.
