Air traffic controllers heard his voice change. A deeper, slower, metallic tone came over the radio. Controllers later said they were deeply unsettled. The voice said they were using the pilot only as a microphone. That he was speaking because he was ordered to, not of his own will. That they came from another planet many light years away. That they were physically like us. That we are not alone. That other races exist and they were watching. That humanity was an inferior civilisation with a self destructive mind, close to catastrophe because of nuclear weapons, and that they could annihilate those weapons in an instant. They said they came in peace and did not want to harm the pilot or anyone else. When questioned in English and German, the voice answered fluently. Rafael was not known to speak those languages. He remembered none of the transmission. He landed safely. Officials met him. Medical checks found no drugs and no obvious mental disorder. He never flew again.
