Take a step back. It’s not the airlines. It’s the financial institutions that are pulling the strings. There is a credit card for everything! Hotels, $ back, etc. Google “interchange fees” to start

This is why I refuse to get those credit cards. And I have no loyalty to a specific airline. I fly whatever is cheapest idc!!

All in all who cares, airlines barely make money. If I can get a cheap ticket and someone else has to “pay the cost” with voluntary transactions so be it.

Already their biggest profit generator is sky mile programs and their credit cards. Flights themselves have too much overhead to be too much overhead to be too profitable
