I'm civilian support at a LEA. A church secretary called to have police "do something" about the homeless people next door bothering church goers. I said, "Ma'am. That's LITERALLY the Church's job."

I’ve seen photos of homeless people sleeping on the ground below the Jesus with their cart next to the bench. I think it would be more poignant if Jesus were on the ground guarding the bench

In some sense I understand the fear of not wanting to get involved with someone the mental health system may have badly failed but I can’t imagine never getting close enough to see that it’s bronze!

We have one of these in DC outside a church, right across the street for a library that's one of the best places for homeless people to gather. The irony is it's taking up a bench one could sleep on.
