1. Feeling guilty for intrusive thoughts 😔 The totally ridiculous taboo thoughts that pop into your head. Thoughts you’d never intentionally think or act on and want nothing to do with, but OCD makes you believe they’re secret beliefs or intentions... that they say something about who you are. They don’t. 2. Assigning meaning to EVERYTHING 😭 Like if I can’t do something small, I’m stupid & incompetent. If I make a small mistake, I’m selfish & irresponsible... OCD is a bully & it uses your insecurities against you. 3. Replaying things I’d said ⏪ I’d reread texts, emails, posts... over and over, in case I’d missed something. I’d even replay things I’d said in person, ESPECIALLY if it was after a drink, wondering if I’d said something weird or inappropriate, or how other people might’ve interpreted it... 4. The “what if” spiral 🤔 I once saw a large van with tinted windows parked in a lot and my brain went “what if someone is trapped in there?” I was convinced I HAD to call the police, with no evidence , just a hunch. That’s the kind of stuff OCD does to you. It takes something completely normal and turns it into a crisis. 5. Planning out entire convos 📋 I’d map out every possible direction a conversation could go. Every response, reaction, worst case scenario. By the time I’d actually have the conversation, I’d already rehearsed it like 20 times in my head. 6. My brain never shuts off 🧠 The constant overthinking, doubting what’s OCD vs a real concern, scanning my memory, doubting every emotion I feel and convincing myself I’m exaggerating things... It’s exhausting. It can be hard to fall asleep or focus on a conversation sometimes. If this sounds like you, please know you’re not alone 🙏 I struggled with OCD for so long & now I’m healed & research OCD full time. I’ve even made two self-help apps for it 😊 👉Check out RumiNot for OCD 👉and PeachyTalks for Relationship OCD (the subtype I struggled with the most) #rocd #ocd #HealingJourney #rumination #intrusivethoughts
