The ONLY time I have not tipped was cuz the restaurant was empty and it still took 2 hours for the meal. Server was texting at the bar, talking 2 friends and at one point disappeared altogether

one time a server brought me the wrong thing. when I asked about it he shrugged and didn't do anything, and when I asked to speak to someone else about it to get to the bottom of it, he told me no.

I have probably only had bad service twice in 44 years. There are times the whole restaurant experience was a train wreck but not in a way that I knew I could blame the server.

The only person I’ve ever not tipped (we gave her 2 chances, separate times). She fat shamed my friend, insulted another, and then would literally stare at us from behind a banquette. It was insane

And when the server tells you how busy they are, that's not making excuses, it's keeping you updated. "Kitchen is backed up but I'll keep checking on your dishes" That's good service!

the place I'm a regular at has one server that plainly doesn't like me but I don't think that means she doesn't deserve to be paid for her work. she gets 20-25% every time regardless.

Last time I went out, I tipped like $3 instead of $5 bc the server literally forget someone’s drink for 20 minutes, didn’t ever check on us and took another 15 minutes to get us our checks after paying

on a date, had a server give me the wrong food 3 times, tell me “i can’t make you happy then” and yell at my date for eating the wrong meal. still tipped 20% and we’ve been dating for 3 years 😂
