@traveltomtom: Who said Plov was from Uzbekistan? 🤷🏽♂️ Here in Tajikistan they also have their own version of Plov. It is similar to the one in Uzbekistan and here they call it Osh Palau. I went to a local Tajikistan restaurant to discover the delights of Tajikistan's traditional cuisine! It all started with an abundance of appetizers, including a Tajikistan version of a samosa, a soup called komshurbo, and of course the national dish. I love that you can eat the food with your hands in Tajikistan, rather than utensils, which enhances the traditional Tajik food experience. I also get to try a variety of kebabs, including chicken and beef. The Osh Palaw is a hearty rice dish made with: • Rice • Meat (usually lamb or beef) • Carrots (often yellow or orange) • Onions • Garlic & Spices (like cumin and coriander) • Vegetable oil or animal fat Plov is cooked in a large, deep pan called a kazan, often served at weddings, festivals, and family gatherings. ❤️🇹🇯 #tajikistan #food

In fact, pilaf is a Tajik (Persian) dish, not an Uzbek one. It was prepared before the existence of Uzbeks lol. For example, Tajik scholar Ibn Sina recommended eating pilaf in the 11th century

plov is actually Persian word, means cooked rice. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were part of Persia empire, so there are lots of Persian influences in both countries
