I worked with a tech a few years back that would always get offended when I was called to help and started troubleshooting from scratch regardless of what he already checked.

agreed! I've been on a couple calls where we were tag teaming what we thought was a motor fault/drive fault. we had checked line fuses, even pulled the motor and drive until a third tech said 1)

I never trust anyone else if I'm troubleshooting something...and I want the operator just to be honest..I will find out from a trend you lied..a lesson that one learns after getting led astray.

I hate to say this. We have techs who always said I did everything but still don't work. And they escalate to me. And I do just what they supposed to do.

Trust but verify, that's what I tell everyone. I also tell everyone the three rules of electrical are Verify Verify Verify .

The previous shift was tired when they did the handover, always start from the beginning, and verify the basics for yourself!

So true. Even the best techs make mistakes. Don't go down someone else's rabbit hole.

I came onto a job where the tech had replaced a cable but because of other lockouts was not able to test it. no one told me this. Yep, miswired.

Always go back through and double check everything from step 1.

This! I always recheck components, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found something that was passed as good but was indeed faulty.

I usually ask someone to go over what I just finished, especially at shift swap, can't be perfect every time.

I've learned that anything the last shift went on a call for at the end of the shift and hands you a part for a turn over fix is the wrong part 80% of the time.
