It uses SELECTEDMEASURE() which acts as a placeholder and points to the current measure. Instead of writing separate YoY logic for Revenue, Profit, Quantity, etc., you can create one calculation item and reuse it across your measures. For example: YoY Change = Current Measure − Same Period Last Year And the DAX: YoY Change = SELECTEDMEASURE() - CALCULATE(SELECTEDMEASURE(), SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR('Date'[Date]) ) If the current measure is Revenue, Power BI applies the calculation to Revenue. If it's Profit, it applies it to Profit. Same calculation. Different measures.
