What a treasure! I grew up in a 125 yo home and we found many interesting things during remodeling but no carpentry squares. My Dad insisted they didn't use one 🤣

Wall near me had to be rebuilt and they found a message written on one stone. It was a love message from a now dead local to his still alive wife. She chose to have it put back in the rebuilt wall.

My brother has our great grandfather’s tools and I’m sure there’s one like this in there. He was a carpenter from 1918 onwards

We found a newspaper from 1980 with a half eaten jam tart, a ryvita biscuit & a C&A bag in our lounge roof space!!!

Canadian here : I have an identical one, also made in Sheffield steel, from my grand dad, a carpenter. He used it when he built houses in the 1920's. No kangaroo though 🙂.

I'm a stonemason, most of my hand tools are at least 70+years old, the steel chisels from Sheffield were so much better quality back then, rubbish now, we've gone backwards with cheap rubbish now

I got one of these from my grandfather (in nz) I can only just make out the word Sheffield though so could be a different brand. The metal diamonds are identical but it’s lost all of the finish of the wood
