The town is called Selters. I guess the name ‘Seltzer’ is a variation of it

Seltzer ist eine Abwandlung des deutschen Wortes Selterser, also „von Selters stammend“, und wird außer im Ausdruck Aqua Seltzer überwiegend im englischen Sprachraum für ‚Selterswasser‘ verwendet

We call it soda water in some regions. There’s a town called soda springs in Idaho that has a similar spring

Honey. You're confused. They call it Seltzer after the manufacturer of effervescent pills, Alka-Seltzer. Because the bubbles look like mineral water.

Calm down everyone, it is the same word. The town is called Selters, Seltz-er is just "something/someone from Selters", formed like Hamburg > Hamburger.

Knew that, but mostly because my brain is a huge sponge that sucks up unimportant knowledge. Gerolsteiner still has the healing water in it’s portfolio, it is called St. Gero, it tastes pretty intense

No Sorry but, the term „Seltzer" is originated from the German town of SELTERS. Selters water became popular in English-speaking countries, the name was adapted to "Seltzer", with the "z"

People who lived in the Great Depression called it two cent plain. As soda was made at a store fountain and syrup cost extra.
