The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of the death or life of anyone.” When an eclipse occurs, Muslims are encouraged to: Pray the special Salat al-Kusūf (eclipse prayer). Make duʿāʾ (supplication). Remember Allah and seek forgiveness (istighfār). Give charity and do other good deeds. The eclipse prayer is a special prayer performed while the eclipse is occurring and is traditionally described in hadith as involving two rakʿahs with prolonged recitation and bowing.
