Here are some interesting trivia facts about him and his pigeons:   About Jan Aarden - Birth & Background: Born on November 6, 1893, in Oosterhout, Netherlands. He later ran the "Aarden Hotel" in Steenbergen with his wife and worked as a bookkeeper. - Early Passion: His love for pigeons started at St. Paulus Abbey school, where he looked after Father Paulus' birds. He even traded 6 red reward cards to get his first own pigeons. - Philosophy: He famously said, "Racing is silver, breeding is gold" — emphasizing that creating a strong bloodline was more important than just winning races. - Legacy: He passed away in the 1970s, but his strain remains one of the most influential in pigeon racing history.   About His Pigeons - Origins: He built his strain by crossing top lines like Oomens, Delbar, Stichelbaut, Meesters, and later Burgemeester Boels, with advice from Piet de Weerd. - Key Characteristics:- Medium size with a noble posture. - Silky, smooth feathers. - Deep, richly colored eyes (often chestnut brown). - Colors include black, blue chequer, black chequer, and grizzle. - Superior Performance: Known for incredible endurance, especially in tough conditions like headwinds and heat.
