This is my toddler and we handle it like you did but MY GOD is it tedious. Every. Single. Car ride 🫠 my ADHD brain that needs things done yesterday is screaming at me every time

"are you doing it yourself or am I helping you" is a big oen for me as a prek educator 👌autonomy is a huge thing at this age but it doesn't have to be a battle

So I usually let my daughter do it herself but sometimes she stalls and won’t buckle herself after many reminder and will freak out if I do it for her

What about toddlers younger than this? My 19m old is resisting the car seat SO bad. And I feel like she’s still so young she can’t process language and stuff like older toddlers can so I’m at a loss.

My 2.5 year old is also in this independence phase. He refused to be buckled today and I just gave him a min to get his wiggles out and we were on our way. The best method truly is just slowing down.

So I try this but my daughter just runs to the back of the car. She wants me to chase her like it’s a game and thinks it’s funny if I have to force her. I have an injured back and so it’s painful to chase and pick her up. What do I do?
