Undisclosed to Fazbear Entertainment and the public, Freddy is heavily implied to be possessed by the restless spirit of Gabriel – a little boy murdered by William Afton. Due to this, Freddy and his likewise possessed bandmates are now seeking revenge against their common killer by attacking any similar-looking adults in the pizzeria after hours in a blind rage, not knowing that they, the children, are being manipulated by William Afton. However, Freddy is evidently friendly towards children and seeks to save his and his friends' own souls as well as any other children targeted by William Afton. It is heavily implied that prior to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, Freddy had already existed as a singing bear character for many years, if not decades. Following the events of the The Missing Children Incident, in which Gabriel was murdered and heavily implied to be stuffed into Freddy, the animatronic bear soon began to exude a disturbing rotten smell, which added to Fazbear Entertainment's bad reputation caused by the Missing Children Incident. Because of the unsanitary condition of Freddy and his bandmates, who also had missing children's bodies stuffed inside of them, the original Freddy Fazbear's Pizza became involved in legal troubles regarding sanitation, which Fazbear Entertainment failed to resolve.
