As a mom I get it. But as a teacher- all kids can be at the performance at 10am. Not all kids can go at night. It’s more about equity for students to be able to participate.

As a fine arts teacher, it’s not the extra pay, it’s the kids not coming back for evening performances. When you’re missing 1/2 your performers the concerts just aren’t as good.

Teachers are working parents too. We usually work 12 hour days on those performance/parent nights and stop getting paid at 3:30. We don’t get to spend time with OUR families on those nights. 1/2
