@chasseurdesons: Tuvalu is one of the smallest countries on Earth and one of the most vulnerable to rising seas. Just a few meters above ocean level, the effects of climate change are already visible: frequent flooding, saltwater intrusion and the slow loss of habitable land. I went there with @Artlist.io to record the sounds of Tuvalu’s nature and culture. With Spencer, Zeke, Lusien (videographers), Fabio (photographer), Tristan (film composer), Joshua (content creator) and Matthew (producer), we spent time on the island to create a documentary about this unique place, its people and its soundscapes. These recordings are more than just ambient sounds: they’re stories. They carry a way of life, the fragility of an ecosystem and the strength of a culture facing an uncertain future. They capture moments, but also hold the memory of a place that might one day disappear. I filmed several sound-focused videos while I was there. They’ll be coming out in the next few weeks.
