Try growing up black in the ghetto. Intelligence gets you deemed weird or abnormal. You learn to adopt simplistic traits and colloquial dialect in order to assimilate easier.

I’ve heard comments like “patronizing” “talking down to people.” It really illuminates how strongly others tie their self worth to their intelligence, especially if they believe they don’t have it.

Misunderstood? Who else got as a child, “say whatchu mean.” BC adults were actually ignorant of verbiage spoken by a child. A child will remember a cold stare from an adult.

I gave birth to a girl who grew up to be even faster and deeper and funnier and more complex than me. She’s grown up now and the conversations with her are sooo liberating and fun ❤️

Worse is trying to explain how your brain processes information so quickly without sound braggadocios. I’ve had people at work ask how I come up with workable solutions so quickly, but I usually just say it’s my experience from years of working in that department.
