But not the healthy relationship sort of safe—the “I’m settling” sort of safe 🫣 It actually wasn’t emotionally safe either, which was a big contributor to why I would defend and shut down. I unknowingly entered into that relationship with unhealed wounds and a distrust of love 🤨 I was simultaneously protecting myself from heartbreak and subconsciously trying to redeem my inner child who had a less than ideal upbringing (to put it lightly) Except this backfired and resulted in more pain and suffering than acute heartbreak 😓 Since then, I’ve done the inner child work, nervous system rewiring, and reclaimed my authenticity and agency. So now I trust myself to love fully and weather the grief that comes with loss 🤲 It wasn’t easy. It was a long, dark meandering road. But it was SO worth it.
