Being a nurse today is so dangerous. Safety in jeopardy & the risk of going to jail. They lied to us in nursing school 😭

Okay but my husband was killed by a fully rested but distracted driver in the middle of a clear sunny day and there’s no jail time for that??

Why would she be charged with homicide if she fell asleep at the wheel? She wasn’t drunk or on meds/inebriated? Wouldn’t this circumstance be more related to a health emergency causing the crash?

Long shifts only put healthcare professionals and patients at risk. This should be seen as a systemic failure—let’s start putting lives over large executive bonuses and shareholder value.

That's a completely normal string of shifts. If you want healthcare 24/7 you're going to have nightshift ppl who have accidents.

& we have to even sneak around to sleep in a patient’s room on night shift. We’re treated like criminals for simply taking naps

Yeah, I left night shifts because of that. If I ever got sleepy, I pulled over, put the blinds on and take a Power Nap. Dozing off happens so quick. We’re not meant to be nocturnal. Sad case.

Why do I feel like people in previously trusted professions get the harshest sentences in comparison to the average crime

I fell asleep driving home after a NOC shift and hit a car. Luckily no one was hurt. My manager let me know we had no day shifts available🙄

How could they charge her with homicide? Is this how we are going to treat the people who give up their lives in the sacrifice of others? I don’t want this anymore.

My grandma was a nurse and she would nap before driving or pull over somewhere safe. No excuse at all.

I work night shift and love an hour from work, I usually have to pull over at least once a week halfway home and nap before driving home. This story is so sad!

3 night shifts is 3 12s, why didn’t she sleep some of the remaining 12 each day? Not only nurses work 12s and often more than 3 in a row. Sleep in between.

Yall talking about it being normal (I agree) but what you’re looking over is the workload of those 36 hours. What may be normal for you may be a lot for someone else.
