@802garage: Should you use an impact for removing broken bolts? 🤔🔩 Many people told me NEVER use an impact when extracting a broken bolt or stud after welding a nut to it. I believe an impact can be helpful for extracting fasteners because the vibrations and shocks help break it free from rust and corrosion. Using too powerful an impact can break the bolt again though, so you have to be careful which tool you use and how. Even a simple wrench, ratchet, or breaker bar can easily break a fastener. That's why I tested which tools will break a bolt in this video and explain the physics behind removing hardware. Welding a nut to a broken bolt also takes technique, as overheating it in one spot can weaken the metal. That may have been another key issue with breaking bolts for me.
