Also. 8-9-10-12-13 year old kids DO NOT NEED A SMARTPHONE. You need to contact them? They can have a regular phone. Calls and txt. Enough.

I grew up without tablets as a 2000 baby and I can navigate the internet and technology better than 99% of my coworkers it may be hard but I won’t be handing my children a tablet

Early childhood sped teacher here. I absolutely agree and most kids on the spectrum don’t need it either unless they’re using it as an AAC device which in my experience most littles aren’t

And if you must use a screen they’ve shown a big tv they can’t control with high quality educational programming a la Sesame Street is much better than a tablet and then turn it off after one

we aren't teaching 2 year olds how to drive just because "they'll need it later". that argument for technology is so weak and so damaging to our kids

My grave is next to yours! I’ve got 3 and no tablets. We homeschool with a family laptop for certain subjects. I have heard I am allowing my kids to fall behind their peers w/o giving them tablets.

My son is 2.5 and he doesn’t need an iPad nor will I buy him one, he has plenty of toys, crafts, etc. to entertain him 😂😅.

I’m not anti-tablet but I do intentional screen time. Low stimulating television, educational only videos and apps. If they are on a tablet, it’s challenging their brain and building dexterity 🥰

I don't think I'm a perfect parent but the only "tablet" time my kid gets is video chatting on MY phone with her family and is so excited to show them what she is playing with or reading.

Mom of three, and afterschool care director. I will die on this hill too, and no YouTube. We have TVs in the home, but YouTube is banned. At the end of the day they choose to play instead of tv.
