I am fostering to adopt because I can't have kids... and that is ok. If we get to foster some children that can go home along the way that is awesome. Stop making this a bad thing.

Adoptive parent here. The infants have trauma. Trauma happens in pre-natal and also at parent separation. All kids that are in foster care and/ or adopted will have trauma no matter age

I think to point is that the goal of fostering should always be child centered- what do they need- never based on what the foster parent or parent needs.

I wish more people knew, the “littles ones” carry lots of trauma as well. Each age group has its own challenges.

People who think only teens have the trauma haven’t worked with foster kids. The little ones have such a hard time bc they don’t understand how to express the trauma yet

The fact is some children in foster care DO need adopted, so there’s nothing wrong with a family wanting to adopt opening their home for that!

I was adopted out of care and it’s the best thing that could have happened to us adoptive parents can be wonderful and deserve to have a family over someone who gets their kids taken

we had infertility and all we heard was just foster or adopt. umm no mamn thoes kids have enough going on, they need to be kids, their purpose is not to fix our family, or to fix me.

Our state has foster children whose parents have already had their rights completely terminated and are sitting in foster care waiting to be adopted because they know they aren’t going home.

Well, the first one doesn’t bother me. There are cases that go straight to adoption. Safe haven babies and children of long term incarcerated bios, bios who are on drugs after 3/4 other TPR.

what's q good reason to adopt then? Because at least the first one Imo is valid, and you can't tell me that teenagers in the system don't have trauma, bc that's simply a lie

wait what's wrong with the first one? if they can't have kids adopting is a great way to go. Because you can grow a family and help a child and give them the family they deserve

I lost 4 friends in high school due to the system not allowing them to get the support needed. People need to foster for the right reasons. Not to try and get a “perfect kid”

The whole ‘foster to adopt’ mindset in order to save $$$ on adoption fees is such a red flag. Reunification should always be the goal. Viewing children in crisis as a way to build your own family….
