La Popular is a modern Mexican restaurant with multiple locations, and I visited the Porter Ranch spot — it was absolutely delicious. From the moment you sit down, they bring out freshly fried chips and salsa, and you can immediately taste the difference. The chips are warm and crispy, and the salsa is so flavorful. We started with the Ahi Tuna Tostadas, which were a solid appetizer. The tuna melted in your mouth and the flavors were perfectly balanced. For tacos, I tried the Tinga tacos, Street Corn tacos, and Baja Mahi Mahi tacos, all served with beans and rice and three tacos per plate. The tinga tacos were classic, but the street corn tacos were my favorite — super unique and definitely a must-order. The mahi mahi tacos were also good. I asked for their habaneros salsa on the side, it added so much flavor to the tacos. The fajitas are a must try. The portion is huge and easily shareable between two people, and they’re packed with flavor. Do not skip dessert. We ordered the flan and the butter cake. The flan was soft, rich, and delicious, but the butter cake completely stole the show. The warm cake paired with vanilla ice cream and passion fruit custard was incredible — honestly, don’t leave without ordering it. I love this place.
