I was a 3rd apprentice coming towards the end of the course. Crashed out on the gaffer on site, realised it’s just his first time on the planet but also realised it’s mine too. Both of us were in the wrong, he taught me everything I know

i’m finding it hard at the moment i’m showing up acting keen asking questions showing initiative and working as hard as i can and i’m not getting anywhere i’m getting upped for tiny mistakes i consciously don’t mean to do and im getting nowhere im burnt out and about to lose my shit i’m 2.5 years into it i loved landscaping i love what i was going and now im dreading getting out of my car and make a face like im not getting sadder and more depressed by the day

I have a young trade assistant with us. Brags that he was a carpenter, did safety too, knows all about it… So I brought him to one of my corporate meetings to observe. I do HSE, but at a systems management level, traded my hivis for a suit and tie a while ago. He left the meeting so defeated “I didn’t understand a single thing… thats Safety?” Yes mate, the upper level, data science. Don’t let it scare you, I was in your boots not too long ago myself… if you’d like to learn, open your ears rather than your mouth. But, never be afraid to question everything. There’s a way to teach apprentices, fear of you isn’t one of them.
