Plant marigolds! Bad bugs will attack them leaving the other plants alone. They act as protecters.

If you put clover between the rocks it is very low maintenance and attracts pollinators

Purple thyme would look nice and smell great. It creeps not climbs

I've hear clover is really good substitute for grass. Low maintenance and rarely requires mowing and does well in low water conditions

Some tips for your raised garden: 1) co-plant! 2) get heaps of worms, 3) get a little composter that is buried in the soil for the worms, 4) get 3 terracotta water bolas, 4) arches for climbing plants

Absolutely do some radishes! They grow in about 3 weeks from seed so they’re good confidence building and it’s so quick it makes my 3yo so excited to see it happen quickly!

We needed to put some brackets on the bottom corners because the pressure of the dirt started pushing them apart. (After a few years).

Old sticks and leaves on top of old recycled cardboard would have filled 3/4 of those beds, then the other 1/4 with compost. Would have saved a fortune and improve the soil for future

Compost is key! My father has had his garden for 25+ years and it thrives year after year! Egg shells, ground coffee, any fruit scraps!

Here’s some tips thing try adding compost every year and also I’d suggest not starting seeds and going to any plant nursery and buy the seedlings since starting them in the garden beds is a bad idea

use shredded mulch around extant plants, once they mature. it breaks down better than other mulch & continues improving the soil in various ways.
