For a young heathy adult I wouldn’t do a head to toe. I would focus on leg and leg related things: swelling, pulse, strength, pain, redness.

A lot of assessments can be done with just interacting and the pt may not even notice. airway, breathing, and circulation can be assessed instantly. It may depend on the unit if head to toe or focused

Omg these comments are scary. They should be bare minimum listening to you and checking your pedal pulses. vascular assessments are very serious with a surgery like that.

This is because new nurses taught newer nurses. And obviously are now defending bad behaviors which leads to poor patient outcomes and death.

I work ICU we do full head to toes because we only have two patients. I have been floated to the floors and tbh it is absolute HELL (5-8 pts).. ER it is literally IMPOSSIBLE. Try not to judge !

If you are there several days, the wound nurse will come and do a head to toe skin assessment. Shift nurses pretty much pass meds and do computer charting. Techs do vitals.
