I use to do it too but it's actually not within our scope of practice. Nurses are supposed keep watch on the stomas of colostomy patients.

I’ve changed many ostomy bags myself. As a CNA my thought is I want to make sure a residents skin is taken care of and that this is a team effort. So I don’t mind helping ☺️

I don’t mind doing it but rather have a nurse in room while doing to assess it esp if it’s new when I worked in hospital.
