Why wouldn’t you offer a solution? You scare everyone with this information and then leave them hanging.

1000% AGREE. At 45 I had my 1st & only 8hr surgery. (Never drink, smoke or drugs ever.) My brain has never been the same & I knew this immediately after surgery. Doctors don't want to hear this.

I have been saying this for many years after my father had open heart surgery and then died of Alzheimer’s. He was never right after that surgery.

So what’s the solution? Have anaesthesia or stay awake through surgery?

This worries me, Doctors are already not giving pain meds after surgeries. Will we now not get anesthesia ? What else is there. This makes me insane.

My father had a 7 hour back surgery and was never the same after that. He had been mentally fine before the surgery. They just labeled it dementia

My had lots of anesthesia in her life and now has dementia. I always belief that was the reason. Glad to see it on a study

Known about this for years, yet drs never tell you the truth about it. Sleeping tablets do this too as do statins and menopause can cause this in women too.
