@michaeltothemax: I’ve been getting this question over and over again. How do I go no contact when I have children. Let’s be clear. NO contact becomes LOW contact when children are involved. Listen very carefully. Your relationship challenges with your child’s other parent rarely had anything to do with the children, and you need to effectively step up and be a good parent. So, instead of talking about how to go no contact with the ex, let’s talk about LOW contact and How to Co-Parent Successfully After a Breakup. You know, co-parenting after a breakup isn’t easy—emotions are high, past wounds are fresh, and yet, you both share the most important thing in your lives: your child. But if there’s one thing research makes clear, it’s that children thrive when they have consistent, loving relationships with both parents, even after separation (Amato, 2000). So, how do you make it work? First, communication is key. You don’t have to be best friends with your ex, but you do have to be effective partners. Keep conversations business-like and focused on your child’s needs. According to a study by Kelly and Emery (2003), children do significantly better emotionally when their parents maintain low-conflict interactions. That means avoiding blame, rehashing old arguments, or using your child as a messenger. Second, consistency and flexibility go hand in hand. Kids need stability—knowing what to expect helps them feel safe. Establish a structured parenting plan, but be willing to adjust when life happens. According to Lamb (2012), cooperative co-parenting leads to better academic and emotional outcomes for children. If your co-parent asks to swap weekends for a special occasion, consider saying yes. That goodwill often comes back around. Third, never put your child in the middle. They should never feel like they have to pick sides or carry the weight of adult conflicts. Research from Johnston and Roseby (1997) shows that children exposed to ongoing parental conflict suffer from higher levels of anxiety and depression. Instead, reassure them that both parents love them, no matter what. At the end of the day, successful co-parenting is about prioritizing your child’s well-being over any lingering resentment. It takes patience, emotional maturity, and sometimes a deep breath before hitting “send” on that text. But when you see your child growing up happy and secure, you’ll know it was all worth it. Remember, the higher you climb, the better the view. Let me encourage you to climb higher because you deserve to be happy. #nocontact #children #ex #exes #breakup #separation #divorce

I keep my communication with him as minimal as possible. Unless it's about our child and needs answering I don't respond. I don't see a need to speak about anything else.

you communicate only about your kids. Then when they get to 18, you dont need to. How dies that look? Smile, talk about what needs to be talked about, and then carry on your peaceful life

asking a narcissist to avoid drama, chaos, respecting boundaries, consistency - even prioritising your child = emotional maturity that they lack. impossible.
