If you do have a float switch on the handler an indicator that it could be backed up is your thermostat turning off completely

most drain lines in houses now run into the plumbing. The line outside is an emergency outlet.

My air handler is in the attic too, there’s an access stub on the drain line that I can open and pour bleach through quarterly to keep it cleaned out.
