I really do not understand how people are so quick to jump on the “the pass is a scam, not worth it ever” wagon. We can all agree it used to be a better deal and that for a large portion of travelers (the golden route folks) the pass is definitely not going to pay off. However, you can 100% plan a trip that maximizes the JR value. I visited 8 different cities in 2 weeks and I did NOT rush or have a miserable trip, as many of pass haters love to project. It is all about your priorities and travel style.
