An investigator with the Utah Department of Public Safety testified on Monday about Tyler Robinson turning himself in for shooting and killing Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University last year. David Hull is the second witness in Robinson's preliminary hearing in his capital murder case. He said investigators "received word from Washington County that an individual in that area had reached out to law enforcement and was wanting to turn themselves in for the incident at UVU." "At that point in time did you receive a name from Washington County?" the prosecutor asked. "Yes, we did," Hull answered. "And what was that name?" the prosecutor asked. "Tyler Robinson," Hull answered. Hill said the department's State Information and Analysis Group "put together what would be called a workup, so they would look at driver's license records, DMV records to determine addresses, obtain pictures of individuals, and then any associated vehicles or things like that." Hull said investigators "were able to establish that Mr. Robinson had been on campus approximately four times throughout the day, twice before the shooting, the time of the shooting, and then after the shooting, later in the evening into the early hours of the 11th." "You said that you initially tracked the shooter forward and backward with, with UVU surveillance video?" the prosecutor asked. "Correct," Hull answered. "Okay. Did you do the same thing with that vehicle?" the prosecutor asked. "We did, yes," Hull answered. Hull will continue testifying today (Tuesday, July 7).
