Dentist here, for a filling of that size, and placement a silver filling is way better. More durable, and lower risk of getting new cavities.

silver fillings are by far the best. this won't need replacing in 5 to 6 years.... white ones often fail or even better get a lab made white inlay/onlay

Dam as an Australian DA we recommend removing old amalgams after a while. And we never ever place one

I just got mine done and she did white but it hurts idk if she did it right cus part of it doesn’t hurt and the other side does which is lower 😭

This happened to me too. I was expecting to see a white filling, and when I looked in the mirror and saw silver instead, I was genuinely upset. It’s not about whether people think silver or white is “better”—it’s about being given what you agreed to, or at the very least being told if the treatment plan has changed. No one should find out after the procedure that something different was done🙃
