This is heartbreaking. Don’t own a dog that needs daily grooming & regular bathing if you’re going to let it get matted. Shih Tzus are hard work . I know I had 3 .

To anyone who has never maintained coat before: he wouldn’t have been able to save any of it if his people weren’t brushing him! The transition from puppy to adult coat can mat hair like crazy (1)

I have a Shih Tzu. I maintained a full coat for a few years and it was a show stopper, but we both got tired of the hour a day brushing it took to maintain. We are both happier with a shorter cut.
