At least the British ended Slavery with the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. The financial implications weren't paid off until 2015. Doesn't right a wrong, but at least something was done about it.

Horrendous but a few things to add. The Arabs were the biggest traders. Most slaves were caught and sold in markets by other Africans. Slavery was not new, every civilisation has used slaves.
