@whileyouwonder: Any other finger tappers? Autistic stimming behaviours often follow rhythmic, repetitive patterns that are not random but structured and purposeful (Leekam et al., 2011). These patterned movements—like rocking, hand-flapping, or finger tapping—can serve as a form of sensory regulation and emotional self-soothing (Joyce et al., 2017). #autism #adhd #neurodivergent #autismassessor

My most prevalent stim is auditory stimming through listening to the same song for sometimes days at a time. especially songs with a specific drumline. How does one go about getting an autism assess?

as a kid, i could "sit still" in class bc i was always busy squeezing my leg muscles in different patterns, but always a pattern. had to give each set the same amount of turns as 1st or last in reps

For my whole life I have done a few things like tapping my teeth together in a particular rhythm, tensing my calf muscles in a rhythm, tapping my fingers. I was 38 before I found out this was stimming

I’ve been trying to figure out what I do but it doesn’t seem obvious. I do listen to music to help drown out other distractions, enjoying listening to metal bands, repeating a particular part of song

Thoughts on censors symmetry? E.g chewing equally on both sides of the mouth etc.

I pair letters in words, for example be au ti fu l. there has to be a . or there wouldn't be a pair 🤣 trace letters in my mind, sometimes I trace it with my eyes or my fingers if no one's watching, also I play with chewing gum in my fingers, to the point my fingers are so dry there scratchy

So would noting in my mind the beginning and end of each yard/grass patch on either side of the road as I drive be an autistic “tick”?

How normal is it to find comfort in repetitive stimming like finger tapping but to become highly irritated and discomforted when someone else does it?

Counting and tapping teeth…. Spelling words out as I hear them while tapping teeth…. Blurting words randomly that spring to mind. Nothing to see here, folks.
