Here’s what you need to know before you go: ✅ How to Get There: Take a seaplane (fastest & most scenic!) or the Yankee Freedom Ferry from Key West. The flight is ~40 minutes, while the ferry takes ~2.5 hours each way. We hopped aboard Key West Sea Plane Adventures and our pilot Kris @floatpilot was downright awesome! Ask Sophie who now wants to become a seaplane pilot after being a co-pilot ✈️ 🏰 What to See & Do: 🏝️ Explore Fort Jefferson, a massive 19th-century coastal fortress. 🤿 Snorkel in crystal-clear waters filled with colorful fish & coral. 🦩 Spot wildlife like sea turtles, tropical birds & even shipwrecks! 🎟️ Permits & Fees: There’s a $15 park entrance fee (You will pay this separately before boarding the seaplane) 📅 Best Time to Visit: Winter & spring offer the best weather! Summer is beautiful but can be hot and buggy. 🎒 What to Bring: Sunscreen, hat, water, snacks, a swimsuit, and a waterproof camera! (There are no shops on the island.) Bring lunch if on the seaplane! ⛈️ Come prepared with dry clothes, ponchos, extra drinks and snacks in case bad weather has your flight delayed off the Dry Tortugas.
