What if you create an artificial tear drop maker, a system that sprays your eyes with the nutrients it needs every so often. It can beep before it sprays so you'll know when to open your eyes for the solution. Maybe it can connect to your glasses and hold a small reservoir tank around your neck or behind your head. Partner up with small YouTube creators that specialize in engineering. 3D printers can create amazing things.

Off topic but…. Is that why our noses run when we cry? Because the tears are being flushed down? I feel so dumb for not realizing there were holes I always thought it just sat there 🤦♀️

I’m dealing with this. Severe dry eyes is so painful and debilitating and I feel like nobody understands. Screens and the dry air from heating or even cooking on my stove creates so much inflammation and pain. I definitely understand what you are going through!

I don’t understand why they can fix a dog’s dry eye with a surgery that moves a saliva gland to their eye. Then every time the dog smells food the saliva gland produces saliva in the eye. I’m sorry they have no answers for you.

I know you talked about LASIK surgery and how it can cause “dry eye syndrome” I had Radial Keratotomy the precursor to LASIK 40+ years ago. One eye is perfect the other eye is a total mess. My severe dry eye causes me so much pain. Adding to that I’ve been diagnosed with sjögrens, I’m a half slow blinker (bad), and I sleep with my eyes slightly open, so I’m told. My PCP (not even my ophthalmologist) found lesions last time I was in so next week I see the ophthalmologist to see how serious they are or are they “surfer’s eye” (UV exposure) I don’t know the difference so I’m waiting to see. My heart goes out to you because “dry eye” is SO MISUNDERSTOOD by the general public. It’s one of the most painful things imaginable (I know people don’t believe that). You can’t think straight or do anything else for that matter when they hurt. Please keep pushing for cures because every new advancement helps all of us suffering from these diseases.

I have never been able to tolerate contacts because of how dry they make my eyes—doesn’t matter how many moisturizing options I have tried. I also have very severe hayfever and allergies. Those things are at least escapable and require only mild or temporary life adjustments. I can’t imagine being forced to feel that every second of the day, in addition to chronic pain. I have pretty debilitating chronic pain in my neck due to hypermobility, but if I had that in my eyes… I don’t think I’d handle that well. You describing how blinking makes it feel as though your eyelids are scraping your cornea makes my heart hurt for you. Not to mention the fact that many doctors failed you. People underestimate how central our eyes are to every breath we take and how badly eye pain can affect your quality of life. There is a reason why so many people who suffer complications from lasik decide to die by suicide. The fact that doctors—who by CHOICE dedicate their career to a speciality—don’t take patients seriously from the beginning is unconscionable. I hope research continues to advance and that you are able to find relief soon. I can’t imagine how isolating it must be so I hope you have a good support system (and medical team now!) to guide you through this.

I had my tear ducts blocked once bc of my cold. I hated it so much bc I couldn’t really open my eyes without it feeling that scratchy dryness. I almost thought I had pink eye. My eyes would even crust shut, just never had the itchyness (which would’ve been pink eye I think). Ik it’s not exactly the same but like I would hate having to deal with that for the rest of my life
