The Black Rice Night Knight Retinol Serum from Haruharu Wonder is one of a few retinol products I’ve tried lately intended for use with more sensitive skin. Designed to be gentle but effective, it’s also good for those new to retinol. While this doesn’t describe me, I find that when my skin is very dry my tolerance for retinol products goes down. With just 0.08% Microencapsulated Retinol, this is a mild choice. It also uses 1% Bakuchiol, a plant-based alternative to retinol that has also been shown to be effective in reducing lines and improving skin texture and tone. This formula also includes Fermented Black Rice Extract which are rich in antioxidants, Ceramide NP to help maintain the skin barrier and retain moisture, Sunflower Seed Oil to nourish and hydrate, and Panax Ginseng Root Extract to help improve skin elasticity. It also includes soothing ingredients like Phyllostachys Pubescens Shoot Bark Extract and Aspergillus Ferment. I’ve found that I can use it daily without irritation, and it has maintained my skin texture well. I do think the low retinol concentration make it less effective for dramatically changing texture for someone who has uneven skin tone or texture. I’ll continue to use this during parts of the summer when I’m outdoors a lot as it won’t make my skin as sensitive to sun as a stronger retinol would. It’s a thin consistency that absorbs fast and isn’t sticky or tacky, so I can continue quickly with a cream at night. The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence is a thin liquid that feels like a milky toner. My skin loves fermented ingredients in a toner or essence, and this one has been doing a good job of making my skin look dewy, plump, and hydrated. The formula includes Black Rice Extract (for antioxidants), probiotics, 5 Ceramide Complex, and Fatty Acids (to improve skin elasticity and moisture retention), Phytosterols & Cholesterol (to help restore the skin's lipid balance), and Panthenol & Squalane (to hydrate and soothe). I find it absorbs very quickly on my dry skin, and doesn’t leave any tackiness. I love the heavy weight recyclable bottle, but the pour cap is a bit tricky. It’s hard to dispense much product just by inverting the bottle, and I find myself having to shake product into my hand (and inevitably onto the floor as well). The brand does suggest shaking the bottle before use to help make sure the ingredients are mixed, so I guess the dispensing makes sure I do that! @haruharu wonder @Picky Shop: @Picky Shop: #pickyxharuharuwonder #haruharuwonder #blackrice #agelessandradiant #essence #retinol #serum #serums #skincare #skincareroutine #skincareproducts #skincaretok #skincarereel
