@integrativehealing.jenny: Replying to @carylowell LDL stands for low-density lipoprotein — and while it’s often labeled the “bad cholesterol,” it’s not that simple. LDL’s job is to transport cholesterol to cells that need it for hormone production, cell repair, and vitamin D. It’s not inherently bad — it’s essential. But not all LDL is the same. There are two main types of LDL particles: Large, fluffy LDL: Less likely to cause damage Small, dense LDL: More likely to get stuck in arteries and form plaque, especially if you have inflammation or insulin resistance What increases small, dense LDL? High sugar and processed carbs Chronic stress and inflammation Low HDL and high triglycerides Poor metabolic health It’s about the context, not just the number. Want me to break down your labs? Gino :
LDL is a carrier molecule like a bus. It carries cholesterol and triglycerides. When LDL gives up its cholesterol and triglycerides. Then LDL becomes small dense LDL. Statins decrease smal dense LDL.

Gino :
Statins change small dense LDL TO FLUFFY LDL which are less atherogenic so no need to measure it. LDL- C or direct LDL is enough. No need to get that fancy
