EMDR music was extremely helpful for me. Talk therapy was useless and even worsened it for me. I started to use EMDR music with headphones (on the calm app) for the overwhelming anxiety and agoraphobia I developed from the ptsd that was basically going to make me lose my career if I couldn’t become functional… I do still need to do sessions but not as much as I use to. I also strongly recommend somatic exercises and breathwork (SomaShare and Open app are good to start with). My nightmares dramatically improved, not cured but most nights I can atleast sleep.

I did talking therapy for like 6 years which I found helpful, but just a couple of sessions of EMDR make a HUGE difference in my trigger reactions. I'm excited to finally "finish" my PTSD treatment later this year

I’m an EMDR therapist and exclusively do intensives designed to be short term for ptsd. The results are amazing.

What's that background noise on all your videos I've watched so far? Traffic or a weird fan or something?

I tried EMDR and hated it. It doesn’t work for everyone, and the evidence that it is actually an effective therapy is pretty low quality.

EMDR has some effect on CPTSD as well. But not a lot.

Ah, that is one of the reasons that brainspotting works faster - you stare at a spot AND you listen to music AND you talk as needed - faster working memory overload.

I had success with Tapping, which is similar to EMDR in some ways, but easier. You think about the memory while tapping certain places on your body. After one session, the startle reflex I had every time my backside was touched (which had lasted for 20 years) was all but gone. I still had a very minor jump response, but no sweaty adrenaline rush with it anymore.

My husband was FDNY spent so much time at ground zero. Those 2 things you mentioned of having a better chance of getting PTSD. He refused to believe for years that he was experiencing it because he believed only soldiers who had survived wars could get that. You’re absolutely brilliant
