I chose to believe that the valyrian dragon riding houses used blood magic as a shortcut/cheat to bonding with dragons without the time and effort required to do so organically. With those family's then taking control and destroying the knowledge that anyone can bond with a dragon

There were many, many Valyrian houses that weren’t dragonriders, so being a Valyrian isn’t even actually a prerequisite for being a dragonrider. You could be Valyrian and still not bind with a dragon.

i think this bond highlights the divine nature of dragons in asoiaf. these are ancient magical beings that are meant to be respected, their bond is earned if THEY decide it is. i think nettles 1/+

The original valyrians were shepherds, i feel like it’s too much of a coincidence for her using sheep to tame sheep stealer for it not to be a connection to her valyrian heritage.

It’s questions the blood supremacy from the Targaryen’s and it shows how a bond is made ORGANICALLY. This dragon saw Nettles as something who respected them, someone who gave them food and patience that others did not do. It shows a dragon has intelligence and emotions.

I feel like the Valyrian made up this connection to the dragons to only make them special. There maybe rules how to bond with Dragons but the special blood isn't.
