My parents had a college fund for me as a kid (my mom spent all the money in it before I went to college) and my grandma would add like $50 to it every birthday. Now she just sends me the $50

Not really that common. Dad got a small inheritance from my great grandpa and got me a nice laptop for school with it but I basically had to find ways to pay for college myself... aka loans.

my family looked at me and said if I wanna go to college I had to pay for it myself. ended up not going since I couldn't afford housing bills groceries and then tuition on top of all that

Not very. My grandparents told me they'd pay for the equivalent of a tuition at a state school. If I went private, I'd have to make up the difference. So I went to a state school and am still grateful

My husband and I will pay for both of our children’s undergrads. And have started our nieces a 529. Once grandkids are in the picture we will pay for their college.

So many grandparents here survive on amounts of social security that are so low they have to go to the food bank and live in subsidized housing.

My grandpa paid for every opportunity I had as a kid with two deadbeat parents. I will always be grateful to that man. My firstborn son is named after him.

I’m a tax preparer and it’s common for me to see grandparents paying for their grandchildren’s college at least. Sometimes private schools too. Obviously public schools are free (or almost free).

My dad gives my kids money towards school each semester as long as they maintain a certain GPA.He also started a 529 for them when they were born. His contributions will cover about 3 semesters.🥰

Very rare 🙈 most parents don’t even help with college and most young adults start their lives with a lot of debt … luckily my parents helped and I got a really good scholarship so college was “cheap”
