@eshtonc: One of the most mesmerising places we got to have coffee in Okinawa! There are only 9 tables by the window, and you’d have to book yourself a seat and wait for your number to be called to get that spot right by the amazing Kuroshio Sea Tank! We would definitely suggest heading to the cafe area first to book a slot, right when you get into the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, before going back to walking around the exhibits! You’d also only have your table for 40 mins and the cafe closes at 6pm 🐋 📍 Ocean Blue Cafe, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium A little thought: while I completely agree that as many animals as possible should be left in the oceans, it is also important to consider that many people can only learn about these animals through exhibits like the Kuroshio Sea Tank! I went it was pretty but not going back the animals seemed depressed just swimming in circles especially the dolphins outside💔

this aquarium is kinda iffy many of their animals like one of their whale sharks named Jinta, were caught from the wild not rescued. Jinta was caught healthy back in 1995, and was not an injured animal. They’re trying to breed whale sharks in captivity, but no one’s actually done that successfully yet. They do some good work rescuing and releasing sea turtles, but overall it feels like they mostly keep wild animals locked up for shows and displays. So if you go, just remember your money’s going to both rescue stuff and keeping wild animals in captivity.
